SimCity BuildIt Services 2.0 Guide

Everything you need to know about the Services 2.0 update — upgrade your fire stations, police stations, hospitals, power plants, and more for better coverage and a more efficient city layout.

What is Services 2.0?

SimCity BuildIt Services 2.0 is the biggest structural change to city services the game has seen in years. Launched in late 2025 and fully live for all players by early 2026, this update fundamentally changes how mayors manage essential services like fire protection, police coverage, healthcare, power, water, sewage, and waste management.

Instead of placing more buildings for coverage, you can now upgrade existing service buildings to increase their coverage area and capacity. This frees up valuable city space for residential zones and specialization buildings.

Upgradeable Service Buildings

  • Fire Stations — Upgrade to increase fire coverage area and response capacity
  • Police Stations — Upgrade for broader crime prevention coverage
  • Hospitals — Upgrade to serve more residents with better healthcare
  • Power Plants — Upgrade output without adding more plants
  • Water Pumping Stations — Upgrade water supply capacity
  • Sewage Treatment Plants — Upgrade sewage processing capacity
  • Waste Management — Upgrade garbage collection coverage

Upgrade Strategy

Prioritize upgrading fire stations and police stations first since they have the biggest impact on citizen happiness. Check the build menu for free gift packages under each service category. Centralize upgraded services for maximum coverage overlap.

Common Issues After Services 2.0

If you see abandoned buildings, your service coverage may have changed. Check each service category to ensure all residential zones are covered. Upgrade service buildings to expand their coverage, or reposition them strategically.
